Pelosi's message for Trump: "It wasn't a question of his being worth it. The Constitution was worth it. He had to be impeached."

After Maher pointed out that Pelosi was initially "rather reluctant" to move forward with impeachment and waited until "it was inevitable," the California Democrat responded that Trump simply gave his critics in the House "no choice" in the matter.
"The president was self-impeaching almost every single day," Pelosi said.
"There are some people who have actually said that he wanted to be impeached," Maher then observed. "Just for the record, being impeached is a bad thing, right?"
"And you're impeached forever," Pelosi replied with a big grin on her face, sparking applause from the audience. "No matter what the Senate does, that can never be erased."
Trump appears to have a new theory on why Nancy Pelosi delayed the impeachment articles until now and it has everything to do with the election:

I don’t know how much of this theory Trump really believes or if he’s just trolling Bernie and his supporter to try and get into their heads.
One thing is for sure. Bernie says he would rather be in Iowa than in DC for the impeachment trial:
‘I would rather be in Iowa today. There’s a caucus there in two and a half weeks. I’d rather be in New Hampshire, and Nevada, and so forth. But I swore a constitutional oath as a United States senator to do my job, and I’m here to do my job,’ Sanders said to reporters Thursday.
I’m sure Warren feels the same with the race so close. But Sanders appears to have more at stake, with the latest Iowa poll averages showing Biden and Sanders neck and neck with Buttigieg not far behind and Warren right behind him. You can understand why Biden really wants to be in Iowa.
