During a stop in Madison, Beto O'Rourke also pledged to stop using the F-word while campaigning, a profanity he deployed frequently while running for the U.S. Senate in Texas and while exploring his presidential bid.
O’Rourke told a voter who asked about his language: “Great point, and I don’t intend to use the F-word going forward. Point taken, and very strongly made. ... We’re going to keep it clean.”
O'Rourke had declared, “I’m so f--king proud of you guys” on national television during his concession speech in November after he lost his Senate race to incumbent Republican Ted Cruz.
Reuters is now admitting in a story tonight that their top reporter on cyber security colluded with Beto O’Rourke in 2017 to keep a story on his illegal hacking deeds out of the press during his race against Ted Cruz.
And Ted Cruz is livid!
Here’s the story:
Reuters reporter Joseph Menn exclusively revealed on Friday that Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke belonged to one of the best-known groups of computer hackers as a teenager.Within minutes, his special report was the most popular story on Reuters.com here and was picked up by other news outlets. But the origin of the story goes back more than two years.Members of the group, which calls itself Cult of the Dead Cow, protected O’Rourke’s secret for decades, reluctant to compromise the former Texas Congressman’s political career. After more than a year of reporting, Menn persuaded O’Rourke to talk on the record. In an interview in late 2017, O’Rourke acknowledged that he was a member of the group, on the understanding that the information would not be made public until after his Senate race against Ted Cruz in November 2018.
This is exactly why you can’t trust the media. It’s not always about what they say. Many times it’s about what they WON’T say. Why do you think the left pitched a ding-dong fit when CNN hired a conservative to be one of their political news producers. The left knows the media is in their favor and they don’t want to lose that like they did the Supreme Court (we hope).
Joseph Menn says in the interview that he was writing a book about this hacking group, so he agreed to keep this bombshell on the shelf to avoid hurting Beto’s chances against Ted Cruz.
Ted Cruz responded to this on Twitter:
So Reuters had evidence in 2017 that Beto may have committed multiple felonies—which Beto confirmed on the record—but deliberately withheld the story for over a year to help him win his Senate race? But when he’s running against Bernie etc, NOW it’s news?— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz)
This is especially horrendous when you consider the treatment Republicans get from the press. Remember how the AP sent a lot of reporters to dig through the garbage to find dirt on Sarah Palin? And just look how they’ve treated Trump since he’s become president. Yet Obama got a pass from the media on all of his scandals and now it looks like Beto has gotten a pass too.
Pathetic!
