Huckabee Insists Trump Isn't Racist As Megyn Kelly Grills Him On KKK Remarks

"Not except in that interview, is what his critics say," Kelly hit back. "It was so strange that he would say on Friday, ‘I disavow David Duke.’ And then when specifically asked on Sunday, acted like he didn’t know who David Duke was."
"I don't think anybody seriously is suggesting that he is giving a wink and a nod at the KKK," he said. "They're a deplorable, disgusting, abominable entity."
"But the very point you're making, that it's such a no-brainer, is what makes his response to Jake Tapper so confusing to many," Kelly responded.
Huckabee then brought up Trump's "lousy earpiece."
"That’s why I have to wonder, what did he hear? Did he misunderstand it?" Huckabee asked.
Kelly did not accept that answer, telling Huckabee that Trump "repeated back 'David Duke' and 'white supremacists'" during the interview.
Huckabee also dismissed Trump's comments in a Monday morning interview on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." When asked about Trump refusing to distance himself from Duke on Sunday, Huckabee balked and instead brought up the late Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV).
"Look, I know it's an incredible overwhelming fascination — I've been watching this morning. But, look, let me ask you this, do you think Hillary Clinton is going to have to answer for her relationship with Sen. Robert Byrd who was an actual member of the KKK?" Huckabee asked.
