"The View" co-host Meghan McCain goes off on Trump for being so stupid about the coronavirus

This morning, The View continued to discuss the coronavirus epidemic, which seems to be inching closer and closer to Trump. On Monday, new chief of staff Mark Meadows, Republican congressman Matt Gaetz, and other prominent Republicans who attended the CPAC conference announced that they would be self-quarantining after they were exposed to someone who tested positive for the virus. The Trump administration has repeatedly insisted that the situation is under control, but that given Monday’s developments, that seems unlikely. “Is all this downplaying of this coming back to bite folks?” asked moderator Whoopi Goldberg.
“If they find [Trump] has it, the stock market will go bananas and that impacts his reelection campaign,” said Joy Behar. “Which is all he’s thinking about all the time because he’s afraid he’s going to go to jail.”
Sunny Hostin agreed that Trump’s refusal to get tested is “so dangerous.” She added that even though there’s “a dearth of test kits,” the president would be able to get one if he really wanted to, but of course, he’s not interested.
“I agree with you. The political implications if he ends up having coronavirus would be absolutely cataclysmic,” said McCain.
The conservative co-host also expressed concern for Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, who are both in their late seventies, as well as members of Congress. “I don’t know how smart it is for Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders to be doing rallies at this point,” she said. “There’s a lot people don’t know.”
After some back and forth about the lack of “protocol” for people returning to the U.S. from other countries, the panel slammed the misinformation coming from the Trump administration. “Please stop with the B.S.,” said McCain. “It doesn’t take just sheer common sense or observation to understand this is obviously larger.”
She went on to say that coronavirus is “being politicized on both sides,” but when it comes to Trump, “the chickens have finally come home to roost with his misinformation.” Added McCain, “I actually think it is one of the few things that could really hit this election in an interesting way.”
