Sen. Ted Cruz vote to impeach President Trump and his proposed sanctions on the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline

In an interview on Mornings with Maria, Cruz spoke out against what he views as a partisan impeachment based on policy differences.
"This is a political gesture of anger," the Texas Republican said. "Their base hates Donald Trump, and they're voting to impeach him because they hate him."
Earlier in the interview, Cruz blasted Democrats for pushing forward with impeachment, saying it does not meet the framework established in the Constitution.
"Where the House Democrats are now, their position is they can impeach without the president having committed any crime or without the president having broken any law whatsoever," said Cruz. "Their position is he doesn't even have to have a speeding ticket. They could impeach for what are essentially policy and political differences with the president."

Cruz says the 2,313 page bill was dropped on the Senate the day before yesterday and he says there isn’t a person alive who’s read “this piece of garbage”.
He proceeds to explain what the bill does, like extending the EX-IM Bank, which he calls the “greatest corporate boondoggle”. Cruz says it also funds government research on gun control, continues renewable tax breaks and, among other things he cites, it fails to defund Planned Parenthood.
